Are You Ready?

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words." - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

God's Word says that these are to be words of encouragement, but most of the time they are words of fear for a lot of us. Why? Because some of us are not ready for the final coming of the Lord. It can be scary if you don't know where you are going which is why it is so super important for us to be 100 percent sure that we are going to Heaven with the Lord.

I was thinking about this this morning. I decided to be honest with myself and ask if I were going to die right now where would I go? Well, if I'm being totally honest I would say I'm not sure where I'm going. There is some sin in my life that I have now repented of, but at the time I hadn't. It will be a process of avoiding a situation that may cause me to sin. I have to remember what is most important in my life. Doing God's will and delighting in Him, that is important to me. Pursuing God with everything I've got is what is important to me. I want to please the Lord so bad and if this is my attitude throughout life then when temptation comes I will have a better grasp on what truly matters; not what I want, but what the Lord's wants.

If you were to die right now, where do you think you would go? If you aren't sure then that's probably a sign that something is in your life that is holding you back from doing God's will and being sure of where you are going. I know that no one wants to go to Hell. Not a soul on earth wants to endure that torment. We all would love to go to Heaven and spend the rest of eternity with Him, but it takes work and taking up our Cross each day, denying ourselves and living for Christ. I know it's not easy, but always in the back of my mind God is saying, "It will be worth it. Keep going. You are not a quitter. You are a great person of faith and you are Mine. Keep serving Me." That's what gets me through. When trials strike, when sin comes into my life, I don't always repent right away, but eventually instead of blocking out God's voice I listen to it.

I want you to go to Heaven. I want you to know the Love of your life and soul. His name is Jesus and He died for you. He took the sin that we all have done and laid it upon a Cross for the whole world to see. That is true love. He wants you to know that you are dearly loved by Him and that there is nothing in this world that can EVER stop Him from loving you. However if you don't repent from sin when you die you will be separated from Him forever. That would be a tragedy. The great thing is you still have time. You have the present, the "right now" and if you repent of all you have done, all the sins that have caused you so many problems and give Jesus your life you will be forgiven and have a new life. It doesn't matter what you have done in the past all that matters is what you are doing now and what you will do in the future. If you haven't accepted the Lord into your life or you want to rededicate your life then you can pray the prayer on the side of this blog (in pink) or you can just speak from your heart to the Lord.

Congratulations!! You are now a new creation in Christ!! You now have an eternity in Heaven to look forward and you now have Someone to live for other than yourself. This will be the best, hardest, most rewarding journey of your life. If you accepted Jesus please leave a comment below that I may pray for you during this time. Be blessed!!

The Young Traveler's Gift

I just finished reading "The Young Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews. It was such a great book and God taught me so much through it.

I read this book in like 2 days (probably would have been one if it weren't for the fact that I needed this little thing called sleep. :) because it was soo good! Andy wrote this book beautifully and it sure knew how to keep a reader enticed throughout the whole thing. I found myself surprised at some of the people in this book and around each corner (or next chapter) I never knew what to expect. Really amazing book!

There is also an adult version (if you don't want to read the young adult/teen version) called "The Traveler's Gift" and I haven't read it myself, but I know someone who did and they say it is very good.  I hope you all have a great weekend and spend some time with the Lord. Jesus loves you forever!!!

Banks in Heaven?

"It seems we believe there's banks beyond earth (that's crazy.)" - Lecrae

Ha ha! Every time I hear that line in Lecrae's song I laugh... and then I remember how true it is. People spend their whole lives searching for that next dollar. Honestly our salvation is of more worth than money. Nobody talks about that though. Nope. We talk about what "success" is and call it having a dream job that pays well.

Let me tell you, there are so many people in this world that are as rich as ever and don't have a dime. Why? Because Jesus will make you richer than paper money ever can. I'm still learning that, but I know for sure that money doesn't solve much. Sure, it might help with a few problems here and there, however sometimes there seems to be more problems because of money.

People fight over money, gamble for money, steal to get money, etc. I feel sorry for these people. It seems to me that money is given too high of a standard. People get selected (or not) because of how much (or how little) money they have.  Money is made an idol or a god in people's lives. It held extremely high for something that simply pays for food or clothes. Then again, maybe that's the root of the problem, what people get for their money can make them "popular" or not. Maybe that's why people love money.

In Matthew 19:16-30 there is a very interesting and good story about a rich man who came up to Jesus and asked Him how he could get to Heaven. Jesus told Him to follow the commandments and listed some of them and the man said he had done all of them and if he still lacked something. Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then, come follow Me." (vs 16-22) The man went away sad because money meant so much to him that he couldn't give it up. "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God." (vs 23)

Jesus said it was hard, not impossible. I think once we get our priorities straight we would see clearly what truly is of worth and what truly is not. I get my priorities so out of whack sometimes. I find things important that shouldn't be that important. The Lord has been teaching me about what real richness in life is. And it isn't money. There won't be banks in Heaven. God isn't going to have a place where you can store all your possessions and money that you didn't use on earth. It will be a glorious place free of all of that stuff. Why not give a little extra money to someone in need? Why not help out that person that's having trouble making bills? Times are hard, but if we follow the Lord's path and stick together as the body of Christ we all will be made better for it and our lives will be rich because of it. Hope you're all having a really blessed week!! Jesus always loves you! :)

The Case For Christ

The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel
I just finished reading 'The Case for Christ' by Lee Strobel and I just have to say that this is a great book.
I would recommend this book for both Christians and non-Christians. For people who haven't yet excepted Christ into their heart this book will help them see the proof that Jesus did in fact walk the earth and that He was indeed the Messiah. For Christians this will help you explain some of the things that people may ask about like why you are sure that Jesus is the Savior of the world and such.

While reading this book it helped me understand my faith a little bit more and to see that the fact that Jesus fit all of the prophecies about Him perfectly, it would be highly unlikely for Him not to have been Savior of the world. If you like to see the facts before you do something then this book is for you. And if you just want to understand why you believe what you do then this book is for you. I hope you are as blessed by God through this book as I was. Have a great day!!! :)

Truly, I Am Blessed

"This is the day the LORD has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it." - Psalm 118:24

That is my verse for the week. I've heard that verse so many times I can't even count, but I've never really taken it to heart. Or for that matter even thought about it. But Jesus brought this verse to me on Sunday and with that He began to speak to me.

The Lord has been showing me my attitude the past few weeks, months and how I have been walking around with no joy or love in my heart. I've been moping. Acting like I am not the blessed person I am and acting like I don't even know Him. He began showing me that maybe I don't know completely who I am in Him and how maybe I need to dig deeper into His Word and press into Him and get to know Him and who I am in Him.

Something I have learned and am continuing to learn is that each day I wake up I am blessed. I can always find one thing(s) that I am blessed with or by. However I am saddened to say that many days I don't do this. I pay attention to the things I don't have instead of paying attention to the things I do have. Slowly but surely God is taking me on a process of changing my attitude and heart and mind.

Today I woke up and at first I was dreading today, then I remembered that I have so many blessings in my life I can't even count them. Consciously I told myself that this is the day that the Lord has made and I can rejoice and be glad in it. I feel extremely refreshed by this and my heart is glad because of the Lord. I want to remind you that no matter where you are God will meet where you are at and He will change your whole life. He has mine.

Truly, I am blessed. Have a wonderfully blessed week!!! :)

Don't Stop Dreaming!!

We grow up in a world that is very confusing at times. When we are kids we think we can do anything and everything. After all we hadn't had the time to stop and listen to the people who tell us we "can't do this" or "that is a dumb idea, why would you want to do that?" and before long you learn to stop dreaming big because there isn't really a reason to dream about something you can't do.

I feel sorry for people who buy into that lie. I once was one of those people. Deep down I was still a little kid at heart but because growing up I was always told that you don't really dream about things that you don't can't or won't ever happen. I'll tell you a little secret dream that I had, I wanted to be a singer. Yup, I wanted that really bad. Now this was before I discovered that I couldn't sing (wow, that was a disappointing day, ha ha) so I thought I really had a shot at it. I remember it just like it was yesterday that I went over to a neighbors house and she asked the question everybody asks little kids, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I thought for a minute and then replied, "I want to be a singer." That was a bad idea because as soon as I said that she gave me a look (it wasn't very nice look as I remember) and said that wasn't "very realistic". And BAM! My dreams were somewhat crushed. I say somewhat because I don't like giving people the satisfaction that I hold their opinion so high that if they tell me something is stupid and wrong or whatever that I would drop what I was planning on doing or was doing and stop. Nope. I didn't do that. I don't do that. This may be wrong, but it is the way I am.

Sooner or later I did however stop dreaming big dreams for a while. I still had small dreams, dreams that I know can and will come true if they are part of the Lord's will but the bigger dreams I let go of because I didn't believe anymore that anything is possible. That is until I became a follower of Jesus Christ and began realize that God is SO BIG that all of us can dream dreams as big as the sky and if they are in God's plan they can come true. I learned that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." and while I was learning about this (and really, still am) I felt as though I just drank the coolest and most refreshing  water ever in my whole life. I was finally dreaming big dreams again and every now and then I have to catch myself from thinking, That will never happen. I can't do that. No, I can't do anything myself but Jesus can and through Him I can do all things.

I want to encourage you to start dreaming big dreams again. Don't stop dreaming. Get to know the Dream Giver (God) and let Him know that You give Him your dreams to have His dreams for your life come to pass. He is so Big and can do anything and everything. Never doubt Him. He loves you! Have a blessed weekend! :)

:::What is one of your "big" dreams from past or present? Leave a comment! Would love to hear all about it.:::

Give Me Your Eyes

This is one of my favorite songs. It really speaks my heart and I'm sure many other people's out there. Check out the lyrics:

Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight

Touched down on the cold black tar
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos

All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity

Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me Your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath

There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, he's buying time

All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Chorus x1

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I've been there a million times
A couple of million eyes just moving past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong

Well, I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way You see the people all alone

chorus x1
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah x8

I think that song is something all followers of Christ should think about. I know every time I hear that song I am convicted because so many times I judge people not really knowing what they are going through and not really wanting to view them from God's eyes. I'm trying to be better about that, and the Lord is helping me through it.

Together we can change the world. I can't change you and you can't change me all we can do is change ourselves. You would be surprised that your example might be the "make or break" for somebody. People like to follow what they see and if they see us doing things just like the rest of the world then they will follow thinking it's okay. Let's try and be the best example we can be. To follow in the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hope you all have a blessed weekend!!

Not by Myself

I read Nehemiah the past week and I have seen so many things that I can learn from. One thing I want to focus on is that in God's will for our lives sometimes He calls us to things that we can only accomplish with other people.

I started thinking about things God has called me to do that I tried to do but just never seemed to work out and I realized that maybe if I had asked for some other people's help then maybe what God called me to do would have been done. If Nehemiah hadn't had his good friends and family to help him rebuild the wall then it probably would have taken a lot longer and maybe would not have been done in record time.

I love how people tried to stop Nehemiah from doing what the Lord had called him to do, but Nehemiah stood strong and continue pressing forth. He continued to fight the fight. I love that. Not only did Nehemiah know who he was in Christ, but he also had people around him that encouraged in his faith. That is so important to have in our lives. We need friends who encourage us to keep going and who support us.

There are so many things in this world that could be made somewhat better or even accomplished if we could all reach out to one another as the body of Christ and make a change. I want to make a difference and impact for the cause of Christ. I don't want to get to the end of my life and see that I didn't do anything to help anybody and I didn't try and make a change for the better. That would be a sad life in my opinion.

I want to encourage you to look for opportunities to help someone and to find out the bigger projects that you believe God has called you to and find people who will help to achieve whatever it may be. I will be doing the same. It's going to be great to see how everyone changes the world just by little things that they don't think make a difference, but do. You are a difference maker. Don't waste that. Have a wonderful day!!!

40 Day Fast

I have started a forty day fast. From March 1st - April 9th I will be fasting sweets while praying for the leaders rising up, and pray as well, that I am one of them.

Let me tell you, you don't realize how much sweets are a part of your life until you cut back on them and then it's like, how did I let myself get so dependant on this? Oh yeah, that's right. It tastes good. :) Spiritually and physically I think this will be good for me. One, who doesn't need to spend a little extra time with the Lord? And two, who doesn't need to step away from sugar (or something) for awhile?

I wanted to ask you (my dear blog friend) to join me in this fast. You don't have to fast sweets, but just fast something. I have heard suggestions of fasting meat. Maybe you should fast tv or bread, etc. Just pick something that won't be easy and won't be too/too hard (so hard that you know you won't stick with it) and begin fasting. I would love for you to join me in praying for the people rising up to lead others in our Country. This is very exciting! I cannot wait to see what the Lord does!! Stay blessed!
