Why Is It SO Hard?

Why is it so hard?

"What?" You may be asking. Life. Why is life so hard? Why does it have to be so difficult and why does it have to be so draining?

I have been asking myself this the last few days. I have been dealing with a lot of stressful situations and have been trying to trust the Lord the best I possibly can, but still I question why it has to be so hard.

The Lord answered my question on Wednesday. He said, "Life can be hard, yes, but it is so you will appreciate the hard work you have put in and not take your blessings for granted." Yes. That is exactly why life is so hard.

Sure, situations come along all the time for every person on this Earth that are hard and difficult. Situations that lead to blood, sweat, tears, hate, love, etc. I've been thinking over some of the things I've been through that have been hard and really looking back I have found that I really have to appreciate and be thankful for the things that I worked hard for and the things that God has given to me. It helps me appreciate both what I work for and what I don't work for.

It's kind of like when a woman gives birth, it is painful while you are going through it, but once you see that little face (or in this case, that hard work that paid off) you forget all about the pain and simply love.

I am reminded of this verse in Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Whatever you do. Not just the good times and not just the bad, but whatever you are doing or going through work at it with all your heart as if you are working for the Lord (which really, that is what we are doing) and not for men.

I encourage you to continue in your hard work. Whatever it may be. Maybe losing those last few pounds or trying to get a promotion or taking care of your family, continue in those difficult and trying times because when you finally lose those last few pounds, land that promotion or make it through the difficult time with your family you'll appreciate all that work and you'll also appreciate what God has given you. God bless you!!!

Whos Battle Is It?

God revealed something to me this morning that was simply amazing.

While I was reading 2 Chronicles 20 this morning I read this, "Thus says the Lord to you, 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's." (vs. 15)

King Jehoshaphat was about to have a major war on his hands. People from Moab and Ammon were about to start a battle against King Jehoshaphat and I'm sure the King was pretty worried about what was about to go down. However he humbled himself and sought the Lord and the Lord told him not to worry because the battle wasn't his, but God's. And guess who ended up with their butts kicked? All the people who were going against Jehoshaphat and God.

There is so much that I have learned from this chapter in Scripture. One, I have learned that the battle really is God's and all I need to do is "stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you." (20:17) So many times I worry about what is going on in my life - the problems I'm having, the situations I'm facing, the difficulties that are coming and it's like the whole world is on my shoulders. Then, God rocks my heart by reminding me that the battle isn't mine, but His. Our problems each day, we don't have to face on our own, God is with us. It's important we remember that and trust Him. That's really what it comes down to is trusting God even when we are facing obstacles.

The second thing I learned was that God keeps His promises. He didn't just tell King Jehoshaphat that He'd take care of it and then leave him high and dry, the Lord kept His promise and delivered King Jehoshaphat and his people. I forget way too often that God is a faithful God and when it feels like something may not turn the way God said it would, I just have to remember that He works all things out for the good of those who love Him. That is Truth and that what we must cling through as we go through life each day.

Remember today that God is faithful in doing what He says He will do and that the battle is not yours, you do not have to go through it alone, God is with you. Have a blessed weekend!!!

Psalm 100

This is one of my most favorite worship songs by Matt Gilman. He has such a great voice and this song is just... it's one of the most happy, joyful worship songs ever and really explains my joy from the Lord. Take a listen if you have time, you definitely will be blessed by it. Happy Wednesday!!!

With All My Heart

“LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts." 2 Chronicles 6:14

I read that verse yesterday and God brought something new to my eyes and to my heart. Sometimes I wonder why it seems that I'm not doing the Lord's will "right". God usually reveals to me what is and isn't His will for my life each day (only when I don't listen to His voice do I not know what is and isn't His will.) but sometimes I just don't ever seem to get it right when it comes to following Him and serving Him. Then I realized what it is - I don't always serve God with all my heart. I serve Him with a little bit of my heart and part of my heart, but I don't always serve Him with my whole heart.

Deep down sometimes I want what I want and what really is sad is that I know God's will and His way is best for me, but sometimes I just want to be selfish. Is that wrong? Probably. Is it how I feel sometimes? Most definitely.

What God has been teaching me is that His grace is sufficient for us all and that even when we have those days where we want to live for ourselves and be selfish, He forgives us. The most important thing to do when we have one of these days is to recognize it and rebuke that, ask God's forgiveness and start doing God's will. I want to live for God with all my heart each and every day. Do I always do that? No. But God is so great that He forgives me and allows me to start fresh. His mercies are new every morning. His mercy His everlasting. His love for us is so great that nothing can separate us from it.

This week I'm challenging myself to live for God with all my heart and serve Him with every fiber of my being. If you would like to join me in this challenge feel free too. Always remember that it doesn't matter where you've been, it matters where you are going and God forgives you for everything you have done in the past. Have a blessed day!!

My God is Good, My God is Great!!!

When I am afraid, God is with me.

When I don't think I can do it, God is there to walk me through it.

When I just want to stop and turn back, God holds my hand and together We keep going.

When my life seems completely out of control, God reminds me that He is in control of it all.

When all I seem to do is fail, the Lord reminds me His grace is sufficient for me for He is made perfect through my weaknesses.

When I don't feel loved, God shows me His love through His Son on the Cross.

When all I want is to be left alone, God stays with me.

These are just some of the amazing things that the Lord does for me everyday. I hope your day is really blessed and that you see some the incredible blessings that God brings to you today.

The Blind Side

I'm probably late on all the talk about this movie but that's because I wasn't able to see "The Blind Side" in theaters. That's okay though because I was able to buy it on dvd and watched it last night.

Wow! This is an incredible movie. Extremely moving and really it's quite refreshing to finally find a movie that A) lives up to the hype (which this DEFINITELY did! :)) B) is worth spending the money to buy it on dvd and C) that Hollywood hasn't added sex and unneccarsary scenes to it.

Michael Oher and his family
If you don't know the story line (yes, it's a true story) the movie is about a guy named Michael Oher who had a father who wasn't involved in his life and a mother who was involved in all the wrong things. He became homeless and had nowhere to go. Mrs. Tuohy saw him and that he had no where to go so she invited him into her home and soon he was living with Mrs. & Mr. Tuohy as well as their daughter and son. He was eventually adopted by the family. After a while he started to play football and did very well. He is now an NFL player (going into his second NFL season) for the Baltimore Ravens.

Maybe you've seen the movie and maybe you haven't. I highly encourage you to buy this on dvd. Truly uplifting and inspiring and really it would be a great movie to sit down and watch with someone who doesn't know Christ because this movie isn't "bashing you on the head" with anything it simply tells the Truth. There are a few cuss words in it, but if I had to grade this movie; overall it would get an A+. This movie really shows what it means to be a follower of Christ and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Have a wonderful Easter and remember that it's about the Lamb of Life. :)
